Fethiye and Region
This stretch of the Turkish coastline is known as the Turkish Riviera or Turquoise Coast. The area around Fethiye is one of Turkey's most beautiful, offering a perfect mix of beach resorts, mountain scenery with small rural villages.
Fethiye 15mins. A mixture of market town, port and holiday resort, with Turkish character. The harbour and marina is boarded by palm tree lined promenades and back streets filled with shops, bars and restaurants yielding bargains, gastronomic delights and bustling night life.
Ölüdeniz 15mins. Ölüdeniz is the ultimate beach resort a wide bay of coarse white sand curving around to meet a sheltered natural lagoon, with pine trees cascading down the surrounding mountains to meet the crystal-clear waters. This is without doubt Turkey's most photographed spot and it is easy to see why. The lagoon with its calm, gently-shelving waters is ideal for children. Boats leave from the main beach every morning for day trips to explore the surrounding coast to satisfy those with a thirst for adventure. For many though this is just the perfect resort for lazing on the beach by day and enjoying a drink / cocktail in one of the lively beachfront bars in the evening.
Hisarönü 5 mins. Hisarönü sits high in the mountains above Ölüdeniz in a stunning setting surrounded by pine forests. It is a livelier resort with a wider choice of shops, bars and restaurants, which really comes into its own at night. The renowned beach of Ölüdeniz is only a short dolmus ride away as is the intriguing ghost town of Kayaköy, deserted by the
Greeks in the 1920's which is well worth a visit.
